Mr. Dixon is a seasoned insurance professional with a career spanning over four decades. He attended
Southern University, where he majored in Computer Science, and he holds licenses in Life & Health as
well as Property & Casualty insurance.
Mr. Dixon began his career in 1984 with Life of Georgia Insurance Company, later joining Metropolitan
Life Insurance Company. In 1994, he founded his own agency, The Petra Group, and successfully
operated as an independent agent for ten years. During this time, he managed three locations—two in
Baton Rouge and one in Gonzales, Louisiana—providing both personal and commercial insurance
solutions.
He later partnered with Taylor & Sons Insurance Agency, becoming the firm’s first minority owner in
2005. Under his leadership, the company expanded into Mississippi and began offering Section 125
(cafeteria plan) administration to a wide range of commercial clients and municipalities. Within two
years, the company’s premium volume nearly tripled, establishing Taylor & Sons as one of the largest
benefit providers in Louisiana. The agency served over half the school districts in the state, supporting
more than 30,000 policyholders.
Since 2008, Mr. Dixon has focused exclusively on growing The Petra Group Insurance and Financial
Services, continuing to provide expert insurance and financial solutions.
